RIP Stan Bachman

Chris Beytes
Stanley Bachman, patriarch of the famous Bachman family of Bachman’s Inc. Minneapolis, passed away July 15. He was 93. Stan was a long-time leader within the floriculture industry, serving in more capacities than we could possibly share here, but his career culminated with his induction into SAF’s Floriculture Hall of Fame.

Born in the Bachman family home in 1924, Stan was grandson of Henry Sr., who started growing vegetables in 1885. Flowers came into the mix in 1914, as the railroads brought in vegetables from the South. Stan worked in the family business along with his brothers, sisters and cousins, but served in the Coast Guard during World War II. He rose to the presidency of Bachman’s in the 1970s, guiding the business through a time of tremendous growth and positioning the next generations for success. GT
